UPEE participated in a Joint meeting with OECD Investment Policy Review of Bulgaria

The Union for private economic enterprise participated in a Joint meeting with OECD on April 27, 2021 to discuss the Investment Policy Review of Bulgaria.

Our organization raises issues for the sectors affected by the Covid-19 crisis, such as manufacturing and mining, hotels and restaurants, tourism, transport, logistics and aviation.

According to the data of the National Statistical Institute, in March 2021 there was an improvement in the economic situation in the country compared to November and December 2020. However, the uncertain economic environment continues to be the main factor limiting business development.

UPEE presented our position on the priority reforms for improving the business climate for investments in the country, such as:

  • Continuation of the work on building the e-government through development and implementation of new e-services;
  • Continuation of the work on reduction of the administrative burden for the business, as well as facilitation and acceleration of the administrative procedures;
  • Continue work to create a closer link between the education system and the workforce needs of business;
  • Greater activity on the part of the state to support and encourage start-ups with a focus on SMEs;
  • Improving the digital skills of the workforce in the country;
  • Promotion of projects for use of energy from RES and for implementation of systems for reduction and transformation of CO2 emissions;
  • Continuation of the business support policy to overcome the consequences of the Covid-19 crisis.
