Maria Gabriel: 500,000 specialists in Europe in the field of artificial intelligence are missing

Nearly 500,000 artificial intelligence specialists are missing in Europe. This was said in an interview with BGNES by the Bulgarian EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Maria Gabriel, while commenting on Bulgaria’s place on the map of the creation of artificial intelligence (AI) in the world. “We are already at a new stage. I am glad that all my efforts in the last two and a half years to give Europe a European strategy and a European approach have led to the request for the White Paper on Artificial Intelligence. We invite everyone to join a big public discussion by May, so we can demonstrate that the strength of the European approach to artificial intelligence is based on ethical principles and values. We want AI to be controlled by man.”, said the Bulgarian EU Commissioner.

“It had to be updated before the end of the first year of my mandate, but now I can announce that it will happen 6 months earlier. In it, I will emphasize on how and in what way AI can and should be represented in education.” she said, stressing that all this must happen under clear and strict rules and principles.
